Bible Reading Plan 11/1 to 11/6

Path 1: New Testament and Psalms

Romans 1–3: Paul begins by showing that both Gentiles and Jews stand guilty before God. Creation reveals God’s power, the law exposes sin, and no one can claim righteousness by works. The section culminates in the good news that God justifies sinners through faith in Jesus Christ, apart from works of the law.

No One Is Righteous: Romans 1–3 steadily removes every basis for human boasting. Pagan idolatry, moral self-confidence, and possession of God’s law cannot make anyone righteous. Paul’s conclusion is universal: all have sinned and stand accountable before God. The gospel begins with this shared guilt because only those who need righteousness can receive it as a gift.

Path 2: Old Testament Pentateuch/History

1 Samuel 7–9: Samuel leads Israel in repentance, and God delivers them from the Philistines. Yet as Samuel grows old, Israel demands a king “like all the nations.” God permits their request and directs Samuel to Saul, beginning Israel’s monarchy while exposing the tension between trusting God’s rule and seeking security through human institutions.

Repentance Before Victory: In 1 Samuel 7, Samuel does not begin with military strategy. He calls Israel to put away foreign gods, return to the Lord, and serve Him alone. Deliverance follows covenant repentance. Israel’s real problem is not first Philistine strength but divided worship, reminding God’s people that outward enemies cannot be addressed rightly while inward rebellion is ignored.

Path 3: Old Testament Wisdom/Prophecy

Jeremiah 45–46: God addresses Baruch personally, warning him not to seek great things for himself while judgment approaches Judah. Jeremiah then turns to Egypt, announcing that its military strength cannot withstand God’s decree. Nations may appear powerful, but the Lord directs history and ultimately preserves His covenant people.
