Path 1: New Testament and Psalms

In Psalms 19–21, David celebrates God’s glory revealed in creation and His perfect law that restores the soul. He rejoices in the Lord’s strength and salvation for the king. These psalms blend personal devotion with royal theology: the covenant king’s victories foreshadow Christ’s triumph and the ultimate joy of God’s redeemed people.

Righteousness and Dominion through the True King: Psalm 21 celebrates the Lord’s anointed reigning in victory. This royal triumph prefigures Christ’s eternal kingship, where righteousness and joy overflow. Believers share in this dominion by submitting all of life to the risen King: family, labor, and culture. Through this, believers extend His rule through faithful obedience and enduring praise.

Path 2: Old Testament Pentateuch/History

In Leviticus 15–16, the focus turns to purity and atonement. Bodily discharges made individuals ceremonially unclean, reminding Israel of sin’s pervasive defilement. The Day of Atonement stands at the book’s center: one goat for sin, one sent away, picturing substitution and removal of guilt. This points to Christ’s perfect sacrifice that cleanses His people completely.

Christ the Perfect Fulfillment of Atonement: No single Old Testament sacrifice captures the fullness of Christ’s death. The Day of Atonement stands at the heart of Israel’s worship, combining substitution and cleansing through the two goats. In Christ, both converge perfectly: He bears sin’s guilt and removes its stain forever, securing full reconciliation with God.

Path 3: Old Testament Wisdom/Prophecy

Proverbs 29–31 closes the book with wisdom for rulers, restraint for the proud, and the noble character of the godly woman. Agur’s humble sayings warn against arrogance, while King Lemuel’s mother calls him to righteous leadership. The Proverbs 31 woman models covenant faithfulness in the home, her fear of the Lord shaping strength, industry, and wisdom.

Wisdom Crowned with Faithful Work: Proverbs 31 portrays the wise woman as the embodiment of covenant faithfulness. Her strength, diligence, and mercy flow from the fear of the Lord. She is not driven by vanity but by vision: ordering her household in godly wisdom so that her labor and fruitfulness glorify God and bless generations.
