Bible Reading Plan: 6/14 to 6/20
Path 1: New Testament and Psalms
In Psalm 118, God’s steadfast love anchors His people through thanksgiving and distress as the rejected stone becomes the cornerstone. Psalm 119 is an acrostic starting with each section corresponding to the letter of the Hebrew alphabet. Psalm 120 is the first of the fifteen Songs of Ascents used for pilgrimages.
The Rejected Stone: Psalm 118 teaches that God builds His kingdom through what men despise. The cornerstone is not chosen by worldly strength, but by the Lord’s wisdom. This prepares us to see Christ’s humiliation and exaltation as the pattern for the church’s victory.
Path 2: Old Testament Pentateuch/History
In Joshua 1–3, Israel stands at the edge of the promised land as Joshua receives Moses’ charge: be strong, courageous, and obedient to God’s word. Rahab’s faith signals God’s mercy to the nations, and the Jordan crossing shows the Lord leading His people into covenant inheritance.
Courage and Covenant: Joshua’s courage is not self-confidence or mere boldness. It is covenant faithfulness rooted in God’s promise and shaped by His law. The strength God requires is public obedience, trusting that His presence is enough for the work He commands.
Path 3: Old Testament Wisdom/Prophecy
In Isaiah 61–62, it is the Jubilee! The Servant announces good news, liberty, comfort, and restoration for Zion. God promises righteousness and praise before the nations, renaming His people as delighted and married. These chapters look forward to the Messiah’s kingdom, where ruined places are rebuilt and salvation shines.
